Most other races do it for safety. But I see FD limiting HP one day. These numbers are getting hilarious.

Why should they? As that jalopnik said, they are almost the most powerful road race cars ever built. It is crazy how close the motors are getting on par with drag car power, but still need to be designed in a way that they handle wayy more abuse.

Yea I don't really know why. In other sports, it's due to safety. In other sports, it's to even the playing field.

That was the point of the tire sizing rule.

We'll see a horsepower limitation when someone is actually injured or when you can't build a competitive car without $100k.
'03 Yamaha R6 - Resting in pieces
'87 BMW 325 - It works, but I'm ready to move on
'93 Mazda Miata - Rallycross ahoy
'18 Ford Fiesta ST - Maggie is keeping the party going
'02 BMW 330i - SpookE new drift car

If you want drifting to grow, you need the $100k builds. Look at the gap between the Sprint Cup and small NASCAR series such as the ones that happened at ODS.

NASCAR is about 3 steps away from anything nascar like at ODS. But I agree. If you do well at one of the ODS type races (I forget the name...) you move to regional type stuff with bigger tracks, then one more step that I forget, then NASCAR.
