Drift up SnowShoe Mtn resort hillclimb road July 27-28

Post by prorallycodriver » Tue May 21, 2013 8:31 pm

July 27-28 is Rally West Virginia based out of Snowshoe Ski Resort. The rally racers race in the woods but also a hillclimb race stage up the mountain both days. Rumor has it, Drift Alliance has been invited to do an exhibition drift up the mountain road w/ switchbacks following after the rallyracers.

Also heard Rhys Millen and Tanner Foust were invited to race the hillclmb.

Yes, the hillclimb stage that they'll be using is asphalt. The rallycars will be racing on gravel out on forest logging roads and returning to the service area (paddock/pits) ontop of the mountain so will be racing up the mountain on wornout gravel rallytires so will be slipping and sliding on the asphalt.
Last one back to the clubhouse is buying!

Can amateurs like us sign up?
Sway is like a race horse; if you push it sometimes, it's ok, but if you are hard on it all the time, then it's going to break its ankle and then you will have to shoot it.

I will let you know.

Thinking this year will an exhibition but hopefully can get this as a competition in the future. Cars would definitely need be fully caged as there is no runoff and plenty of trees to whack. There aren't the huge drop off w/o trees like at Pikes Peak or many other hillclimbs. I driven the course opening (pacecar) the past couple years and will again this year. Lots of fun driving this road when its closed to traffic.

I've done Pikes Peak Hillclimb a couple times. Scary cliffs.

Famous female rallydrvier Michele Mouton did it and said "If you guys had balls, you'd race it downhill" so something like that.
